While on mission a few years ago through an organization called YWAM (Youth with a Mission), I heard an analogy that I would like to share with all of you. It's a beautiful picture of God's guidance in our lives, and it went something like this...
There was once a missionary man who had a vivid dream about the Holy Spirit, but not in the way you would expect. This is how he described it to all of us.
"In my dream, I felt like a little boy, but I was sitting on a white horse. The white horse is the Holy Spirit. And if you are going to sit on that horse you are not allowed to hold onto the reins. You have to go wherever He dances. And it is a dance."
God wants to use us. He wants His power to be revealed through us, but the paradox is that your weaknesses are your greatest assets. So often we are waiting for God to fix our problems before He can use us. He uses us in the midst of our weakness. The weaker you are, the more He can use you. The greatest handicap is our own strength, accreditation and accomplishment."
It was a lesson that I absorbed that day, and was reminded of today: Our weaknesses can be used mightily for the Kingdom of God. It only takes a keen eye for our surroundings, a trust in the one whom the real strength comes from, and a willingness to let go of the reigns, so that we can dance with Him.
